Digital Accessibility Declaration
Accessibility declaration of the Energy, Digitisation and Innovation Department

Public body / Scope

Senate Department for Economy, Energy and Public Enterprises

We make every effort to make our website Deep Tech Berlin barrier-free. The declaration on digital accessibility is required by the law on barrier-free information and communication technology Berlin (BIKTG Bln). The technical requirements for accessibility result from the current BITV.

This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website www.berlin.de/sen/wirtschaft/ .

When was the declaration on accessibility created or updated?

This declaration was created or revised on 18 06 2020.

The review of the digital accessibility was carried out by the public authority listed above.

How barrier-free is the offer?

This web presence / application is only partially accessible. It only partially meets the requirements of the current BITV.

Which areas are not barrier-free?

The areas listed below are not barrier-free for the following reasons:

Incompatibility with current BITV

Subareas that are not barrier-free:

Barrier: Description of non-text content by text

  • Description: The photos, logos, diagrams etc. on the website are not explained by a text description. People who are visually impaired cannot see the content of the photos.
  • Measures: Analysis, which photos convey important content that is not conveyed by text. These photos must be labelled.
  • Time schedule: Remediation in 2020

Barrier: Captions for recorded audio and video files

  • Description: The recorded audio and video files do not have extended subtitles (captions). People who are hearing impaired may not be able to perceive important content in the videos.
  • Measures: Video files are provided with extended subtitles (Captions). A short text summary of the video is created and placed next to the video.
  • Schedule: Remediation in 2020

Barrier: Main navigation

  • Description: The main navigation is not fully usable for reading software.
  • Measures: Status feedback on whether the menu is expanded or collapsed is corrected.
  • Schedule: Correction in 2020

Barrier: Usability of the website without color

  • Description: The website can be used without color with one restriction: The links on the website are not recognizable as such for people who are color blind.
  • Measures: To improve the recognizability of links, they are highlighted in bold and underlined.
  • Timetable: Remediation in 2020

Barrier: Hinged elements (except navigation)

  • Description: The fold-out element is not fully usable for reading software and keyboard operation. It is not possible to navigate through the page with the tab key and the arrow keys without problems. This is a hurdle for people who find keyboard mice difficult or impossible to use.
  • Measures: Status feedback on whether the menu is open or closed is corrected. The focus when using the keyboard is improved.
  • Schedule: Correction in 2020

Barrier: Table of contents for longer texts

  • Description: There is no table of contents for longer texts. It is not easy to navigate through the page with the tab key and the arrow keys. This is a hurdle for people who find keyboard mice difficult or impossible to use. Therefore they need an overview of the content, preferably with “jump” elements to jump from the table of contents directly to a chapter.
  • Measures: The Deep Tech “Blog” website will be provided with a table of contents due to the high number of blog posts.
  • Schedule: Remediation in 2020
