The Start-up Capital Berlin

The technology hub Berlin especially benefits from its innovative and agile start-up scene. The city offers young entrepreneurs an ecosystem of research and business that's unique in the world.

As a 2019 Study of the Investitionsbank Berlin showed, 591 digital companies were founded in Berlin in 2018 - more than Hamburg, Munich and Frankfurt am Main put together. Alone in the field of software and data services there were 494 new start-ups. According to the current Start-up barometer Germany of Ernst & Young , Berlin companies specialising in these fields gathered an incredible 482 million euros in venture capital.

The Senate Departpent for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and Berlin Partner for Business and Technology offer local support to young entrepreneurs with a wide array of business development measures whilst the city’s numerous incubators, accelerators and co-working spaces ensure optimal conditions for work and networking. Located in the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, Projekt Zukunft (Project Future), is an initiative of the state of Berlin for the promotion of the growth areas of ICT, media and the creative industries. Project Future develops strategies to enhance the pulling power of Berlin, builds platforms, initiates networks, organises exchanges with business community, develops novel funding instruments, produces studies, and realises innovative projects for enterprise and society at large.
